Student Workplace Learning Program (SWLP)

The Student Workplace Learning Program is a not-for-profit community based organisation, it is part of Career Advice Australia a national career development and transition support system for all young Australians aged 13 to 19 years old. The program is funded by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations and the NSW Board of Vocational Education and Training.

The SWLP is governed by a management committee supported by members from education and industry, parents and youth ensuring all parts of the community are consulted on how the organisation can most suitably serve the local region. The SWLP delivers Career and Transition Support Programmes in both the Shoalhaven and Southern Highlands Regions. Local Community Partnerships (LCP) work with schools, parents, businesses and community organisations to help all young Australians aged 13 to 19 years.

SWLP – Career and Transition Support Programmes

  • Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) SWLP links students studying Vocational Education and Training subjects with employers to gain structured workplace learning experience.
  • Adopt a School Program (ASP) – SWLP builds links between businesses, students, teachers and the broader school community through activities that will increase knowledge and opportunity for careers and further education
  • Career and Transition Support (CTS) – SWLP provides support to schools and youth assisting career professionals at school in the development of youth and career transition services. This support is further enhanced by activities externally including support for local careers expo’s and career information for parents.
